19th June 2011 Enniscrone Strand Races

The Enniscrone Strand races are one of the most colourful attractions in Enniscrone. These horse races are still held on the beach at Enniscrone and have proved very popular over the years with locals and visitors alike. There is a long history of races in the area and after a lapse of over 100 years, the old tradition of Enniscrone Races was revived on Enniscrone Beach. Poles were used to create courses and the horses raced across the sand when the tide was out. This is a Seven card race meeting with €6000 in prize money and the first race starts lunch time.
